Janet Parnes
I have been taking delight in educating, entertaining, and inspiring audiences ages 7-adult with portrayals of underappreciated American women (and events) for more than 15 years. My portrayals whisk audiences back into life into the Colonial, Federalist, Victorian, and World War eras. My extensive research, attention to detail, and writing talent result in historically accurate performances that inform audiences and make them feel as if they are chatting with a friend. Audiences chuckle, marvel, and sometimes cringe!
It has been a privilege to have performed at the assachusetts State House, John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum, Longfellow’s Wayside Inn and numerous libraries, senior centers, schools, and museums. The reward lies in helping audiences develop a deeper appreciation of the richness of American history and the sacrifices and contributions of the women (and men) who have been part of its evolution.
My media appearances include the Boston Globe, Metro West Daily News, Patriot Ledger, Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Daily Transcript, Bon Voyager, and numerous local papers.
I am proud member of Solo Together- a group of solo performers who can be seen nationally.
